Golden Bay, New Zealand
The northern most point on the South Island of NZ is notable for some awesome cliffs and rock formations.

I love the dreamy blue light and the long shutter speed's ghostly effect on the water. To my eye, the immediate FG appears a touch bright with respect to the background cliffs and meadows, though. If anything, I might suggest evening out the brightness a little. Just a minor nit, really. I like the comp and image overall.

The natural arch at the end of the bay is a great visual anchor for my eye.Nice.

Anish, for some reason I decided to add a gradient to the smaller version just before posting. Looks like it wasn't such a good idea. The larger version does not have this addition and may strike a better balance.

A beautiful coastline image Kah Kit! The blues add a nice atmosphere and I like water structure. Good to have some texture there. The brownish branches intersecting with the water are a bit of a issue for me - if I put myself into nitpicking mode

Quite a view. Impressive cliffs and I like the diagonal lines there. The long exposure does give this a nice dreamy feel. The natural arch really sets this off nicely.

Lovely curving cliffs ending at the beautiful arch. Long exposure augers well soothing the waters.
Not so sure about the empty space in the LRC.

Magnificent sea and sky color, and I like the lines in the rock pointing to that arch; it really does suck the eye there. For the reasons noted above, the foreground doesn't grab me as much as the background, but still very nice overall!

The colour in the water is what gives this impact, alongside the wellworking composition. The arch in the end of the curve is just brilliant...

Strong shot Kah Kit. I like the comp a lot, and it really conveys the ruggedness of the coastline very nicely.

Those yellow flowers really compliment the blue, dreamy mood of the rest of the image

A fantastic composition, and I do love the blues. I agree with Youssef about the arch, it makes the visual flow of the image a great experience!

What a beautiful coastline KK. I like the smooth look of this as a result of the long SS. The arch in the distance is a very strong compositional element IMO and without it this would not be half as strong.

Beautiful location and a lovely rendition with the long exposure. The brown shrub breaking the cliff line breaks the flow of the cliff line but isn't a big deal. They are so small in the frame I'm not sure if the presence of the fence and viewing platform would generally require a posting to the M&N gallery?

Beautiful scene Kah Kit. Some day I have got to get to NZ. I am not a big fan of the foggy water thing, but it may have been necessary to get the rest of the photo.

Wayne you're quite right - sharp eyes. I actually thought I had cloned out that platform. Walt, the foggy water was a by-product of the long shutter speed needed to make exposure in very dark conditions.

Love the way my eye wraps around this well composed scene into that distant arch. I was going to suggest maybe brightening the top a bit, but looks like you've already addressed this. Good stuff!

The larger version does look more balanced Kah. Love the comp with the curving cliffs and the arch at the end of the bay.

Kah Kit,
Excellent coastal image. The geology is showcased well and I agree with some others that the arch provides an great anchor to the scene - even despite it's relative small size in the frame.
I didn't even notice the platform until it was pointed out. Pretty insignificant, so the image will stay.
Interesting observation that I'm not sure others may notice. but at least for me, the thumbnail looks much more cyan than the post here, and the larger version. In other words, I see a color difference between the thumbnail and the larger versions. Anyone else see that?
Anyway, I like the image Kah Kit, but can't say it's one of your strongest. - Not that it has to be of course...

Spectacular scene, and the fg/bg balance works for me. The WB is a bit too cool/cyan for me overall--noticeable mainly in the rocks and vegetation since the sky/water look ok to me. I dont notice any difference in the posts, Lon

A bit simple compared to some of your more complicated (and controversial) shots, but I'm enjoying it exactly for that reason. Seems like a pretty typical NZ day from what I have seen of your photographs of the place. Very cool.

This is terrific! I really have no nits, or suggestions here. But I do hope you took another tighter shot of the arch, and the incredible striations on the cliff face.

Excellent comp and the low light and long exposure really brings out the details in the cliff face. I also like the touch of yellow to compliment the blues.

When viewing this photograph, I get the feeling I am on journey along the cliffs. A lot of visual impact throughout the frame. One of the most striking coastal pictures I have seen in a long time.
