Foregone Conclusion

Yes, I know there are thousands of images of aspen leaves with water drops on them. But I like them, and had to have one of my own. Tried for it a few times in the past with out a good situation to capture. I think this one was worth a try. Sorry for being simple minded and predictable!!!! :) No arrangement made to this in any way. Just leaves, granite, and the help of some rain. A little contrast adjustments to help the leaves pop off the granite, and some sharpening. I hope you enjot it, and thank you for your thoughts. large version included as well.

Thanks,
Chris

This really pops off the screen. Very well seen and captured Chris. The dark granite makes a great backdrop for the leaves, and the droplets are just the icing on the cake. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - your photography has come so far in the last couple of years. This image is something to aspire to IMO.

Wow, Bill. Thank you very much. That means a whole lot coming from you! To be honest, I don't think I'm trying(pushing) as hard these days, just "seeing" better, I hope. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Beautiful, Chris! The dark background really makes the leaves pop, and the drops add the perfect layer of depth.

Maybe there are a lot of the 'raindrops on aspen leaves' images but yours is truly exceptional Chris. The dark granite as a backdrop really makes the aspen leaves vibrant and the raindrops look like gems of liquid light. But what I like most is how in your composition the rock seems to have gathered these leaves, almost like the palm of a hand, lifting them up with a few leaves falling off to the side, almost like child would scoop up autumn leaves in their hand and watch them fall to the ground. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I think your 'aspen leaves with water drops' is fantastic. The large file is wonderful to see.

Very nice Chris. I tried my hand at a few images like this when I went hunting for color. Yours is much more successful than mine. Nice sharpness throughout and an excellent composition.

A natural presentation with crisp colors and sharpness. Lovely detail Chris. This is not simple minded at all....it's quite good.

I would never tire of looking at this Chris. Beautiful detail throughout. One of the finest water droplet images I've seen. Well done. Agree with Bill totally.

While there are many "leaves with raindrop shots, I think this one stands out amoung the rest. As vance said, they almost seem as if they are being scooped up. Excellent work Chris.

I love it Chris, I like the diagonal displacement and the black granite is the perfect backdrop for let le leaves pop. The larger image shows great details of the raindrops, well done!

Chris,

Very nice self deprecation, but I love the river of gold slashing across the image and it just wouldn't be the same without the droplets of rain. Just like we feel refreshed when we step out of the shower, I think Nature does too. As evidenced by the enriching and saturation (no pun intended) of colors that occurred up on the North fork of Bishop Creek, before hell really broke loose Monday afternoon I guess. This image stand out very well and is extremely creative compositionally and the technicals are spot on. Well done :jump:

The layout and the grouping of the leaves give this quite a unique flavor to my taste. Perhaps in the absence of first-hand experience with autumn aspen, I'm less likely than anyone to tire of photos like this one.

I know that feeling, Chris...gotta have some aspen leaves with water. This one is really cool. The black backdrop is really a nice spot for all the leaves, as it makes them pop. :toast:

I love the comp and subject. Personally, i feel the black spots and torn leaves detract slightly from the overall impact. I know its next to impossible to find 'pristine' leaves to work with--but hey if it were easy it wouldnt be worth shooting.

Chris, love the detail in the rain drops. I wasted so much time looking for this little intimates. Not wasted but you know what I mean. Simple and works effectively!

Chris,

Outstanding image! Sure, raindrops on leaves has been done a few times.... but it still takes a good eye and a solid comp to make these scenes work. You've done beautifully on all accounts.

A scene like this never gets old. The water on the leaves sets this apart similar images I've seen. Great capture!

No need for any arrangement here... Mother Nature already did it for you. Love the way you composed this with that sweeping band of leaves across the image and equally weighted throughout. I wish I would have tried more images like this during the weekend, but there was just so much other stuff tugging at me. I wouldn't change a thing here... beautiful work and well seen!
