Bald Eagle to the nest

Eagles are beginning to construct their new nest since the tree fell last year.

These Eagles only fly for nesting materials between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. every morning like clock work! This phot was taken around 7:45 a.m.

Nikkor 200-400mm F4,ED,IF,VR lens

ISO 400
Aperture F5
Shutter 1/2000
Hand held on the move as he looped between the trees to land!

Really nice dynamics Eric. Exposure looks great and the position in the air is super. Well done. I believe there is a halo around the bird, but that is easily fixed.

I think this is a fine image Eric. Dynamic flight pose, a neat head angle to get good eye contact and nesting material to boot. I like the shadow of the talon on the tail. I'd work on the halo and then you have an excellent shot IMO.

Excellent banking shot Eric. Good sharp details. The branch in his talons is a major plus. Good job on the blue sky, it looks very natural for a clear sunny day.

Neat head on view here Eric, I'd work on reducing the halo. Sweet flight shot. :toast:

A really unique BE shot - especially with the tree branches in the talons. The exposure is perfect aand I'm surprised how well the DOF is @ f5. Congrats on an awesome shot

Very nice BE image Eric, I especially like how the wing extends to the URHC. Great head turn and detail. I also see the halo mentioned and think it is definately worth fixing. Great capture. :toast:

Eric, the halo is a broad one on the top wing from possible S/H adjustments or other adjustments made. This is something I just learned about myself from some very kind and knowledgeable folks here. Not sure what post-processing you do or with what program. I use PSE8 and by using a threshhold layer and moving the slider around you will clearly see a halo around the wing, not too bad but still noticeable.

Here is the thread on my own image where this was pointed out to me if you want to check it out.

Eric,

This is a great flight shot of this eagle and the branches add a lot of interest. Exposure and comp look great.

I've attached a screen shot that shows the halo that has been mentioned. Using Photoshop and a temporary threshold layer when you move the slider from right to left you can detect halos you might not see on your screen. Hope that helps. This is a fine image worth reworking to bring out its best.
