Autumn Trail

Taken in the same area as the picture called Autumn Fern in my gallery here, this was just the perfect day for Autumn colours. I came round a small bend of the rail into this little clearing where I saw all these lovely ferns illuminated by the sun from the right. I just barely caught it before the sun went back some mountains on the right of me.

Please see the large version as well.

C&C is hugely appreciated. I've worked and reworked this image tons of times. Latest revision has incorporated TK' LumMasks and I think I finally got it where I want. What do you think?

Tech
Canon 5D
Canon 17-40 @ 17mm
f/16
5sec
ISO100
Lee .9 soft ND grad
Helipoan 105mm polarizer.

Looks good, with those ferns being positively radiant. I get the feeling that this is tilted and think that a clockwise rotation would make it feel a little more balanced. Aside from that, I can't see anything that I'd really want to tinker with.

I really like the detail in the ferns and the colors in the sky. I agree that a cw rotation may be needed. I may also try to burn down the upper right corner slightly? Great fall scene!

Thanks for the tips!

I actually didn't notice that this image lookslike it's leaning to the left until you mentioned it. I always use a hot shoe level when taking shots, I therefore forget to check how the shot looks. I just assume that since the camera is level, the scene must be level as well. But obviously that depends on the scene. :-)

Nice image. I agree with the comments already made about it needing some rotation.

Looks fine to me. Think the apparent tilt has to do with the lay of the land and I think eliminating it might actually detract from the overall appearance. Same thing with toning down the upper right. Can't say if it's the way I'm seeing it or the way my monitor's displaying it, but the way it transitions across looks more or less natural. Toning that down would I think mess that up....Izzy
