Another shot from the water in my kayak in fairly windy conditions and somewhat flat light. However I liked the position of the hawk and thought I'd post the image. This female Northern Harrier was searching for food in the Dead Creek WMA, off Lake Champlain in Addison, VT.

Nice flight shot, Chuck. I really like the angle here-it gives a great sense of habitat. The bird seems just a tiny bit soft to my eye, but the wing position and that classic Harrier behavior are outstanding.

Very nice capture, Chuck. I like the inclusion of the habitat and the pose of the hawk, slight nit covered re the sharpness and thats easily sorted, but still a super image none the less.

Chuck,

The background and grasses at the bottom are very appealing to me. Great pose from the harrier too, hovering and looking for prey. Love the wing position and dangling feet. I might try to selectively sharpen the head and body of the harrier and skip the wings, it looks like they could get very crispy with any additional sharpening.

One other thin I like about this image is the small size of the harrier in the frame, for me this image is as much about the habitat as it is the harrier.

This is one of those photos that just makes me smile. I love seeing the natural behavior and habitat, and of course an excellent photo..

I like this a lot Chuck - one of my all time favorite species in a classic pose and habitat. I like the wing and leg positions and your comp. The bird looking down works just fine for me. My only small nit is the slight softness of the bird. I can tell you're loving that Kayak and I'm jealous.
