Obscurity

Autumn in the Santa Cruz Mountains is one of obscurity, as very few know it exists and fewer yet know where to find it. However, it is a breathtaking display of color and luminosity. For more information on Autumn color in the Santa Cruz Mountains, you can check my website.

Meanwhile, your thoughts on this photo is much appreciated as always.

The composition here, and the lighting, are perfect.

Youssef,

Keep posting images like this and it won't be obscure for long. Comp is good, forest scenes with mixed trees can be chaotic. Your placement of the ( big leaf maple?) as the focal point and the way it's has fought for space with the larger trees is well done. Along with the color catching back light.

Lovely. I love these types of forest scenes, very hard to find and even harder to compose, well done on both fronts! :toast:

This area does indeed look like a great place to be in the fall, but something tells me than not everyone could find, and then pull off a composition like this one. Just beautiful, and perfectly exposed and processed.

What terrific luminosity in this, Youssef! I love how the maple appears to glow in the dark forest. I bet this will really come alive in a large print. There appears to be a subtle magenta cast to the shadows.

Youssef,

Luminosity seems to be the key word here and that's what I'm drawn to as well. Great glow with this autumn tree in the middle of the dense forest. The subtle, yet strong presence of the redwoods (or cedar?) on the right helps put this in location somewhat. The two trunks on the left border on heavy for me, but in no way takes away from the impact and overall lovely impression I get from this image. wish it were mine!

Wow Youssef, you have got a good one here. I love how the yellow leaves just seem to glow in the otherwise dark forest. I like the 2 vertical tree trunks in the front which create some depth to the image. Well done.

Love the way that backlit maple stands out from the darker fg and softly lit bg trunks. Strong comp that really pulls the viewer in. Beautiful work!
