Still waters

This is an image from May this year, from the lake Mälaren in Sweden. I was checking out a new location with a friend. This evening the water was totally still and this doesn´t happen very often on this lake. The light was not optimal, I was hoping for some sunset colors but as you all know you can not control nature.
It is a minimalistic image but I love the mood and the simplicity in it.

My thoughts exactly. Very well composed too with the high horizon and the slight off-centered-ness of the small island of trees which adds a dynamic touch. Nicely done all around.

Nice simple image. Would like to see it in b/w also.

Anders,

The expansive blank, emptiness of the water's surface is what makes this image successful, IMO. Had you cropped to a pano or even a standard format, it would have been rather ordinary. But you have successfully created a moody and minimalistic image.

I love it too, and quite a lot! Sometimes a good picture just asks us to be photographed, isn't it?

Congratulations on a very fine example of "less is more" kind of image.

Fantastic shot, Anders. Very quiet, calming and serene. The minimalistic approach you took here is very fitting for this scene.

Hard to say why such an empty image works so well, but I agree with the others. I think the cool colors really set the mood that matches the comp.

Very minimalist, indeed. But I have to say, it does have a wonderful mood. Cropping it would possibly make it just another shot.

I really enjoy it the way it is right now, the great empty space below adds a lot for my taste.

I like it. This would be a perfect shot to put some kind of slogan or logo in the lower righthand side. Love the serenity of the scene.
