This is an image I dream about! Whites are a bit hot, but your colors are to die for! Nice timing! Sharon

Great pose, Eric. I agree that the whites are a bit hot-you might try bringing them down. The bird seems just a bit soft to my eye, but the action and colors are great.

Excellent pose. Your techs look good I'm surprised it isn't tack sharp. If the head were sharp the wing blur would be ok I think. Great timing to catch the pose.

A classic pose Eric. Nice timing on this one. Whites don't look bad on my monitor. Agree with others that the sharpness and detail are lacking a bit.

This is a great pose Eric, love the colors of the water and the eye contact. The bird does look soft to my eyes, perhaps the focus was off. But since they are back in force I am sure you will have more opportunities.

The pose simply could not be better Eric but I too notice the softness.

Great pose but the bird looks soft and the whites on the face look hot to me.

Eric,
Great position of the bird. The background is really nice. It looks like you had some tough lighting to shoot in. Maybe -1.0 or -1 1/3 would have taken care of those pesky whites on this bird. I have the same lense and find that it is not as sharp when I use a converter. Sandy Richards is the one who initially told me of this problem and so I really don't use the TC anymore with it and get very sharp images. I'm not sure what is causing the softness but that may be an issue. Just a thought. This is never the less a very fine image Eric. Great catch.

Thanks for the feed back. I think the softness may come from not being totally in focus. I was on a muddy bank with a monopod shaking a bit from the pain in my old back (lol)....going back for another attempt!
