Sweet pose BG and perch.
On my monitor the BG seems a bit noisy.
Would like to see more of the perch.

Hi Brian,

Welcome to NPN's avian critique gallery, it is a great place to learn and share information. I've found I have learned as much giving critiques as getting them by careful observation of the image and the techs used to create the image.

The simplicity of this kingfisher photo is very appealing to me, I like the pose, the great natural colors, background, cattail perch and the comp you used. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Awesome BG on this one Brian and a truly excellent image, if it were mine I'd lift the contrast a little, just to give it a little more punch.

Were you and Lee Fisher on the same workshop ?

Beautiufl comp and artful capture of those amazing colors. Excellent details and he picked quite a good perch.

Sorry Brian, I thought you said it was a workshop in the original post but no probs, both yourself and Lee certainly did make the most of it and have produced some cracking images.

Very nice image for all the reasons mentioned. His kind of grumpy, pudgy looks makes me think of Winston Churchill.

Brian, I love the stark simplicity of this shot. The background color is a perfect foil for the bird's colors. Beautiful detail, composition and lighting, too. A winner! Best regards, Lynnmarie
