Thanks for the comments on my last post.
Don't know if the weather will hold out long enought for this one to fully open but I thought it was interesting enough as is. Thanks for looking. Larger version included I may like the smaller better.

This is a lovely image indeed, the colour contrast is great and its wonderfully sharp.

I think the background lacks a little though, perhaps its just a little too plain for my taste though its certainly a fine line to tread between too plain and too busy.

Altogether a nice shot though and this is probably just my taste rather than an issue.

Good shot, Bruce. What about to crop a bit the top and the bottom of the image to concentrate the attention on the flower?

Nice portrait Bruce. It looks like it will grow up to be a very pretty bloom.

Thanks for the comments all.
Mauro, I thought about a crop as you suggested but decided I like the smoothe, creamy space around the blossom.

It's quite interesting as-is, and the background is great. I'd go with a small crop from the top and call it done.

I ike the comp and the mix of colors is great! The soft light allows all of the best of this flower to show. Extremely well done!

Beautiful image Bruce. Nice comp, rich colors and for my tastes the bg works perfectly. That may be from the avian bg. We always try to get bgs like this for birds. I might crop some from the top but that's subjective on my part. Very nicely done.

Excellent Bruce. I like how the dahlia is just beginning to open. Gives it a wind blown and very appealing look.

The scattered open petals make a very nice design, for me. The contrast of the two colors is very impressive. I was going to propose a 5:4 format, but I am no more sure. That green goes to the infinite.
Take care.
