Everything's bigger in Texas :)

Gigantor is an American adaptation of the anime version of Tetsujin 28-go, a manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama released in 1956. It debuted on U.S. television in 1964.

Great image, Howard. I'm sorry you stole the "everything's bigger" line. I wanted to use it just after seeing the thumbnail

Howard, I hope Kempner is a long way from Austin, thank you very much.

Great shot--good composition, fine detail, and it tells a story.

Way to go. :toast:

Howard,
after my recent trip, I can only confirm that everything's bigger in Texas.
Great comp, the rose gives a sense of the scale and great detail.
A curiosity, do these Mantids eat steaks? :wavey:

This looks like it is fresh off the set of an old Japanese science fiction movie, so good title. Pretty substantial mantis :toast:

Howard,

Didn't realize you had posted one of these until after mine. Yours does look quite a bit more impressive than mine! I love everything about it and the use of flash worked beautifully here. What makes this photo especially visually interesting to me is the presence of the thorns on the rose (its big scary defense) and how they are dwarfed by all of the hooks and spikes on the mantis. Well done.

She's a beast and you've done a nice job of emphasizing her gigantor-ness. Nice capture, Howard.

Howard:
'Everything's bigger' in the US compared to what we see in Asia. I like this image and the flower is a nice touch. Kind of wish the antennae are all included but then it would be difficult to emphasize its girth. Nice to know you are a manga fan.
