Aloe Flower, side view

Shot with a Nikon D3000, 60 mm lens, shutter speed 1/125, aperture f/3.5.

Something about the gracefulness of these flowers really caught my eye. I was hoping to convey that in this shot.

I welcome critical feedback on this shot. I am working on deepening my understanding of how to capture a good shot in the moment one sees the photographic opportunity. I do not alter any of my shots once they are taken. My reason for photographing is the realization of the elusive perfect shot, one which captures archetypal imagery that speaks to many.

Thanks so much for any feedback!

Interesting artistic objective Stephanie.

I like the color in this image and the diagonally receding verticals. I don't recall commenting on one of your images before. So welcome to the gallery. I'm looking forward to seeing the images you produce in your search. Don't know if my tastes are suitably archetypal but I like this image.

Stephanie, Looks as though it's welcome to both NPN and Flora. I hope to see more of your work.

The subject almost looks as though it were painted.

Were you using a tripod? Was there wind? Both are factors to be taken into consideration as you shoot.

Well seen and captured, Stephanie. I like your choice of depth of field.
The colors are all complementary.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, it is helping me to understand what makes a good shot.

I do not currently have a tripod, but am realizing that I need one to shoot the kind of macro shots I like and maintain image clarity.

Stephanie:
I like this soft painterly mood with receding blooms arranged in a diagonal. You obviously have good eyes for composition. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts.

Stephanie: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet and thanks for a fine first post here. I especially like the color palette and your DOF choice. My first impression was to want a bit more room left and bottom but I do like the diagonal flow and the BG. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more.>=))>
