The Ranges

The formations of the rock and their simlarity to mountain ranges from the air attracted me to this shot. I had to do a little housework on site to try and remove a few leaves that gave it obvious scale. I used the conversion process to further enhance the abstract nature of the shot.

D700
16-35mm @ 20mm
f9.5 1/45 ISO400
PP levels, TK luminosity and sat masks, conversion to something akin to quadtone :)

This is an interesting abstract image Andrew. I like the curing lines and the lighting which helps to bring out the texture of the rock. It really does look like a series of mountain ranges as seen from above.

I've been browsing Nasa online galleries yesterday and this shot definitely looks like you intended. Perhaps a very slight crop on the right would help to accentuate the light in the central part of the image.
Great textures as well.

Mountain range or small rocky ridges, the pattern is intriguing. I like your toning.
