A Matter Of Scale

I took this at my home on Perdido Key, Fl. when the tide was low. Although this looks like a landscape with prominent cliffs...The "landscape" is only about 16 inches high.

Fascinating indeed, I'm interested as to whether the 'clouds' are actually clouds.

Cool shot Lucy. This one really messes with my sense of scale which makes it very interesting to look at. I'm also wondering if those are clouds on top or something else.

Yes, the clouds are really clouds. Since I took this photo from "sand level", the clouds are upper clouds...not even close to the real horizon. I changed nothing except in the the BW controls....contrast, heightened colors etc.

I chose to convert to BW, because the "high" sky was Sooo blue against the white sand. You could see the strata so much better without Blue and white color contrast directing your eye.

16 inches? I can imagine something much grander. Interesting illusion and a nice sense of abstractness.

Nice illusional image. I like stuff like this, and this one works well to trick the viewer.

By the way, you have a very cool name!

This is an interesting play on our perspective, Lucy - great job on finding such an interesting mini-scape! The quality of the image appears to be very poor, though - nothing is sharp and everything appears 'smudged' -- too aggressive noise reduction, perhaps?
