Lesser yellow legs

I don't get many chances at this species, so I was really happy when these birds came by close enough for a shot. This is very early morning light with a lifting fog as a BG. A larger crop than I like, but these guys are small, so even when they are close you end up with a pretty large crop. Please view larger version for maximum detail. Thanks for looking.

Your right Rich. If I look at the area at just the right angle I can see a bit different shading to that area. Already fixed in the full size version.

The detail looks fine, and I love the light and composition, Ron. Any idea what's dragging behind the upper bird? :toast:

Dennis, I was waiting for someone to say something about that. I am sure it is just a strand of aquatic vegetation. These birds were feeding in shallow water with a lot of some kind of submerged vege that is very stringy when you pull it up out of the water. Not sure exactly what it is. Probably some kind of algae.

Ron,

It looks to me like a strand of filamentous algae trailing behind the foot of the bird on the right which considering their habitat choices makes perfect sense to me. Love the light, the flight poses of the birds, how the warm tones of the birds are complimented by the soft sky. Good catch getting these in flight, that had to be a challenge.

Nice birds with twin poses. Well done.

What's it all about, algae?

Nice! I have a hard enough time getting these in the water, much less two of them in the air.

Ron, great capture!
Catching them flying is tough, and catching 2 is awesome.
Nice detail, poses, great light and BG.

Perhaps the first flight shot I've seen of the species Ron and you got two of them - in good light and with nice flight postures. I like your exposure, composition and separation of the birds. Nicely done.

Nice work as usual, Ron. I've never seen any of these in my area.

I love the light and the position of the two birds, Ron. flight shots of shorebirds is an awfully tough task, and you have two sharp in the same frame. :toast:

Works pretty well Ron, even though I'd prefer to have both angled slightly towards the camera. It is a tremendous task to catch one in flight, let alone two, and you managed that tough job wonderfully mate. Huge congrats!

Nice flight shot in great light. I think it would have been great if you got them just before they passed you.

Both birds beautifully in focus, Ron. Sharp enough to see that algae string too! Lovely light: even catchlights too despite the birds in flight on a side view. :toast: :toast:
