Dahlia 2

Another Dahlia favorite from this weeks photoshoot. After my last post, I'm aware of the clipped petals on the right of the main bloom  In the future I'll try to include the whole flower.
This isn't a major "full effect" cram, but hinting in that direction.

Love this unusual composition. The inclusion of the bud solidifies it. Great colors and sharpness ! :toast:

I like this Craig. The blooms surrounding the subject bloom add a lot of interest for me without stealing it from the main bloom. I think your composition including the bud as well, is a major strength in the image. I also like the color palette. I've got no suggestions for improvement on this one. Beautiful work for my tastes.

Craig, WOW! What a magnificent burst of color.

I would make only one suggestion from the viewpoint of composition and that would be to add more canvas on the left. Your bud is facing away from the subject and IMO tends to let the eye drift off to the left. I think it would help to supply some more breathing room around the bud.

Cheers,

Carol

A really great comp on this shot Craig. The bud on the left adds nicely, and I love the comp with the main bloom and supporting cast at the bottom. Really nice!

Craig: Terrific comp and a fine result. I see where Carol is coming from but since both the bud and main flower are looking left I think there is plenty of room over there. With regard to clipping I think it best generally to show the whole flower or clip a significant amount so it looks intentional and not just an oversight. On close examination of your larger version I'm seeing what looks like part of a stem on the right border. That's of no consequence here but if you did have more room on the right the stem might be a distraction. Overall this rates a very solid 2 thumbs up! >=))>
