Louisiana Lightning

I was driving back to Venice LA from the New Orleans area when a large thunderstorm was brewing. The lightning was unreal. I stopped to get some photos but realized I left my remote at home. I raced home just ahead of the rain, got the remote and raced a little farther south to set up. This was taken at 9:37pm. After the lightning struck in this photo, I closed the shutter and was reviewing the photo. I forgot that the BOOM was coming and when it did I jumped about 5 feet off the ground. After that I would trip the shutter and go sit in the car until it was ready to close.

Shot with a Canon 7D, 24-105 f/4L @ 24mm, ISO 100, f/11, for 71 sec.

Cool shot! I really like the color of the sky as well as the lightning. The water and motion in the trees really adds to the stormy atmosphere.

Almost too scary. Maybe you should get a telephone lens

Radical shot!!! :toast:

I think 71 seconds may be wrong though. I see hard water.
