Red Damselfly Close up

This is taken with an old lens from my first film camera over 30 years ago. It is a fully manual 50mmF1.8 lens. It has some mold at the peripheral which could not be removed by the service center. Any way it does not seem to affect the image (pls let me know if it does). Because it is fully manual, the exposure had to be adjusted manually by taking a test shot and looking at the histogram. With this shot, I am trying to see how close I could get to this damselfly and in the end I managed to get to MFD of about 20 cm. The focus is done by moving back and forth.

D90 50mm1.8+ET F8 1/30sec iso400 HH. Thanks for viewing and C&C appreciated.

A lovely picture - great color and terrific background. This sample indicates that the lens has nice bokeh.

The color seems to be strongly saturated, makes it kind of glowy - not my personal preference, but I don't it find to be particularly objectionable. I expect the saturation is not due to the old lens. My druthers would be to have included the whole damselfly.

Interesting comp Gary. Glad you were able to resurrect an old friend  The color does look a little bit over saturated, almost plasticy (Is that a word?) I also see a little bit of sharpening halos around the Damselfly. Clipping off the end of the Damselfly doesn't bother me at all.

The color is very interesting, almost looks like it is metallic. Great job getting that close to the damselfly.
