This was taken while on holiday in Corfu, Greece.

There were lots of these within feet of our chalet door and I spent hours chasing after them, getting some odd looks from other holidaymakers who couldn't make out what I was doing in the bushes
Well, I had more fun doing that than I would have on the beach.

Minolta Dynax 7D (now deceased after I accidentally dropped it)
Sigma 70-300 super macro 2 (died the same way)
1/3200th sec
f5.6
ISO 400
210mm
Hand held

Beautiful capture Geoffrey. These critters are difficult to catch but you have done nicely. Like the diagonal placement and the motion blur of the wings. Sweet bg. All in all a very good macro image. Well done. :toast:

Sorry to hear about your gear but now you have an excuse to get some new ones

I agree with others; this is excellent in all aspects. I also like the overall warm colours. The critter looks like it's watching you out of the corner of its eye. Just fantastic!

You need a plaque you can put up near you, saying 'Nature photographer at work'...

A beautiful natural photograph of an amazing little creature. Not analyzing anymore, just enjoying.
