Basic Transitions

Gallery: LandscapePosted August 15, 2010568 views43 comments
Hi all - I haven't posted in months due to being so busy, but I have tried to check in and comment whenever possible.

I've titled this Basic Transitions because that's how I see this - transitioning from water to land, transitioning from daylight to dark, and also transitioning from bright to subtle. Basically, very little processing except for minor curves and slight sharpening.

Please view LARGE for better detail.

D2X w/ Tokina ATX 12-24 @ 24mm
1.3 sec. @ f/11 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
No filters
Tripod
Capture One 4, CS4, Marc's web sharpening

Critiques, suggestions, and comments are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Boy, I could get lost in this image Bill. Such a subtle capture but loaded with vibrance, texture, flow and detail. I wouldn't change a thing!

This is extremely nice, Bill. I especially like the corner to corner angle of view with the dabbling light here, that really adds to the scene IMO.

Wow Bill, that's gorgeous! An uncommon quality of light this is for certain. It's amazing how wet sand is such a good reflector. If I might suggest, bringing up the brightness, or "Whiteness" of the surf just a little bit???

Bill,

So glad you decided to share this with us. I love this! It's simply stunning and I feel like I'm just being absorbed in to the sand along with the water and colors... This one really grabs me. Amazingly gorgeous and even a bit moving.

I like the way the tumbling surf and the ridge of sand add extra layers into the composition. It's simple, but the nice warm highlights are very engaging.

Bill, lovely light, color and composition, but what grabs me is the mood, so very tranquil, and that's what makes this scene so special in my opinion. Beautiful work.

Just don't know how you keep coming up with these awesome beach scenes, Bill. There is an essential-ness to this that perfectly captures the beauty of the shore. Sand, water, light. Nothing extra, but totally enough. Very nicely done.

Wow that is very nice Bill I am really enjoying finding these simple but powerful colour images that look more like an artists palette than recognisable as a landscape.

Gorgeous! The beaches in FL have that nice, white sand that helps the reflection quite a bit. I'm jealous here in CA! :toast:
