Poor Kermit!

Another of the images I found at the Ridgefield NWR in Washington State last week. I had rounded a corner along the River S Area and happened upon this GBH just as he had snagged dinner.

Many thanks to Mia for her invaluable assistance with this image.

Great to get him with a huge frog like this Chuck, I've had a similar experience at Ridgefield but the heron had a snake. To my eye the head of the heron doesn't look as sharp as the middle of the back. I think if you had stopped down to F5.6 or so you probably could have gotten a lot more of the bird tack sharp. :toast:

The frog seems quite reserved to its fate... a great image but I think the frog could use another round of sharpening

I love the expressions on both the heron and the frog, Charles. Sweet composition as well. The Heron seems just a bit soft, but I'd take this image any day. I suspect this is an invasive bullfrog, so I'm rooting for the heron. :toast:

That frog is very compelling with those big legs hanging down and those buggy eyes so apparent. I especially like the light you caught on the prey to make it such an effective part of what's going on here. I agree with the nits but think this is a neat capture Chuck.

That is one great image Chuck!! The frog's big eyes bulging, legs dangling. I just think the timing on this was awesome.

Chuck,

The frog dangling out of the heron's bill is impressive in its size and the neat pose it is in. I like the habitat in the setting and how clearly the tongue of the heron can be seen. I like the light, the mud stained legs and tail feathers, I guess this bird didn't mind getting dirty for dinner. You were able to get a good angle too. Very nice behavior shot!

Excellent capture, the uncommon ( in size ) prey makes the shot.
