BBWD

Yes, another BBWD. Sorry, but I finally have some time to shoot, so I keep going after these guys. Trying as always to get the ultimate shot. This is not it, but I like it for light and the two birds being reasonably sharp. Not tack, but given the early light and how close these birds where it was all I could do with the SS and DOF allowed. This image is the type I want, just need it all to come together for perfect sharpness on both birds. Thanks for letting me know what you think.

Some people will not like the highlights on the feet, but there feet were wet and that is what you get, so I left it. I guess I could burn those spots a bit, but I think the highlights add the depth to those areas otherwise they would look abnormally flat.

Please view the larger image for max details as the small image is not processed for optimal web presentation.

Ron, catching 2 of anything in good poses and reasonably sharp is a win.
Nice!

Really nice job timing this to get the wing positions so similar and in such good light Ron. I think sharpness of both birds looks quite good and I like the anchoring trees at bottom. A very good double illustration of the air brake feet. Composition is great IMO. Lots of folks would be delighted to get one bird in flight this good but you got two. Well done.

A sweet flight shot Ron. I particularly like the position and the eye contact of the bird on the left. I think ideally you would have had a bit of separation between the 2 but nothing you could have done about that. :toast:

Great view of the striking underparts, good eye contact from bird at left.

I'd be happy to have taken this. The highlights on the feet are fine.

Another stunner Ron, perfect placement in the frame with just the smallest overlap . The only nit I have is that the duck on the right doesn't have it's head turned to take full advantage of the available lighting.

nice one, Ron. a little separation between the two subject would be ideal, but if I know you, you will get one like that before we know it! feet are fine. pose of the left bird in particular is super.

I like the rather awkward looking poses and the pink feet are crazy, Ron. Excellent image quality. :toast:

Perhaps not the "perfection" you're after Ron..But darn close, especially under the shooting conditions/circumstances you've mentioned.
You have pretty much self critiqued your own image, and I can agree on the points you've raised..
I think sometimes in our efforts to get that "ultimate" shot, we can lose the ability to fully appreciate what we do have..So this is a winner in the book of "Cheek", for what it's worth to ya
Well done! :toast:

Ron,

This is a very delightful and appealing image as presented. I love the wing spreads, the eye contact and backgroud. I don't mind the highlights on the feet at all and I am glad you didn't clean them up. I especially like how this image shows the light spotted plumage under the tail and the colors look spot on.

I'd be very pleased to have taken this.

Very cool, I like that both birds have a similar wing span. An interesting mix of colors and a great job in getting both birds sharp with detail. Well done.
