Todd,

The light is very nice and the scene is a very pretty one. The processing looks pretty good with the mutliple exposures and hdr; I've no complaints with colors, contrast or the look of the image as a result of processing. Compositionally, it looks like you've tried to "take it all in" with a lovely scene at last light. Your title suggests the old craggy tree is a central theme, yet it's pushed against the left edge. I really like the light, the clouds/sky and this captures the marsh environment pretty well. But for me, this lacks a central focal point; getting back to the idea that you tried to include so much of the environment that in the end you lose the attention of the viewer; if that makes sense.

This also looks a little soft to me, even the larger version and of course, compression for the web doesn't help a scene like this with so much detail.

A lovely scene Todd, but just doesn't hold my attention for too long.

There are some interesting competing ideas in this photo, like the lines of the dead grasses contrasting with the curving tree branches. The sharp and detailed foreground contrasts nicely with the softness in the background on the right. In the end though, I find there to be too many ideas vying for my attention and the whole doesn't feel very cohesive.

On a side note, HDR seems to have treated the scene pretty well.
