This was a gorgeous sunset in Cocoa Beach. I only hope that the colors don't look too saturated on the viewer's system. On my monitor the oranges have a burnt hue ... they are not bright orange ... and that's how the sky looked. I did not adjust the vibrance or saturation. I did fill in a blown out area of the sun though.

Canon 7D, 400/5.6 lens

ISO 200

C&C welcome

This is really interesting Michele, I like it. It's very reminiscent of the kind of image you often see done with the moon, not the sun (trees in silhouette, dark clouds veiling the moon, etc.). I like that it's a different take on the usual sunset. It may not be for everyone because of the heavy dark areas, but like you, I sometimes like dark areas that add a sense of mystery, and this is one of those times.

I definitely like the sun and the wisps of cloud. The darkness feels a bit heavy to me. There is a difference between mystery and " What is it?" :smile:It would benefit the image, IMHO, if you could pull some detail out of the foreground.

Sometimes we forget the more intimate scenes for the broad and expansive views. I know I personally do, especially when it comes to layered ones of the sun like this one.

Very nice sun shot Michele.

Lovely composition and pretty color Michele. For my tastes it appears a bit too dark overall, but I think with a little extra post processing this will be very nice.
