This is different and way cooler than anything I thought to try the one time I visited Punchbowl Falls. I like it a lot. It's obvious that a lot of digital work went into this, but it doesn't bother me.

Daniel... I absolutely love this one... like everyone said before...very unique angle... the only nit is that around the sky and the trees on the top of the image looks like there are different colors, halos..but nonetheless this is an outstanding image.... :toast:

Excellent wide angle shot. A shot like this is difficult to get it to look natural. You did an admirable job of balancing the light and colors. I cant tell if there is a bit of hallowing around the trees on the upper right.

Definitely a unique perspective on these falls. Like Rajeev said, the blend in the upper right in the sky could be darker around the trees. Also, the blue fringe around the falls looks a little off.

Excellent shot, I've seen a lot of perspectives from this place but never one like this

I love the wider view to this scene. Very different! The lighter part in the sky in the URHS is alittle bothersome, but definitely not a scenebreaker. :toast:

I love it. The sky works very well here IMO. Great lighting and exposure.

I like the composition and the tilted tree hanging over the waterfall. That white water structure at the bottom is a bit of a distraction and the HDR effect is a bit too strong for my taste in some places (mostly the sky).Nonetheless a very well done rendition of the place.

Beautifully composed frame. Loved the greens.
Bit unsure of the area where the sky meet the tall tree.

'Tis very very cool - nothing you can do about the leaning tree and the clouds have a bit of that greyish HDR look, but the shot is really unique.... Also looks great as a square format without the sky.....

Nice take on this one Daniel, tough job on the processing. I think most stuff in the forum has feel that lots of digital work when into it. Funny it's gets mentioned only in some photographs here.

Dude this looks identical to 2 images I have in my library with the exception that one of my images has the old log in it and one does not. I say this because if you see an image that looks like this in a gallery (or my gallery) with my name on it, don't think I copied you!!!

I like it a lot! You knocked it out of the park. :toast:

I have noticed your waterfall is tilted though. I might use the ruler and straighten to correct that. Also I too think it has a little room for improvement in the upper mid area. I too know this is a TOUGH blend image. Mine had the same issues!

I'd like to humbly address the ambiguity of this statement (if I am understanding it right). If we start from complete scratch with a raw digital negative and develop that image as competently as possible, excellent development/color correction work IS a lot digital work. For a critical eye, even just the issue of getting white balance perfect is a lot of work. As I see it "lots of digital work" is a neutral issue. If the work is good, its good work, etc..

I really appreciate the comments because a lot more computer work went in to this - false directions, starting over etc, than anything I've ever done (and been proud enough of to show anyone!) I know what I saw and where I wanted to go with this, so specifics about what didn't work are very helpful.

Daniel,

A wonderful and fabulous take on this popular location. If anything, I'm really glad to see this view just for my own personal education on what this place is like. And to top it off, you've captured this beautifully. I would say though that the greens along the ridge to my eye are a little on the yellow and saturated side; almost like there's a bit of Orton going on - oh wait, you did mention HDR which explains the looks I'm seeing. Would also agree about the sky in the URC.

The trees at the top seem to be too dark, but if that was corrected slightly, this would be maybe the best comp I have seen from there.

I haven't seen this falls in the context of the forest around it. The wide view and blue sky are glorious. There is something HDR about it, I'm afraid I can't our my finger on it. I don't actually mean this in a negative way because I find the processing outstanding.

A great neew look at an old standard. The curving tree matching the cloud is a nice touch.

While it does have a slight HDR feel to it, it has been applied very judiciously and resulted in a very appealing image. Personally I'd prefer the saturation and luminosity of the bright green vegetation pulled back just a hair, but this more than works as presented too. Beautiful work!

Very nice take on Punchbowl Daniel. I love that you captured that huge leaning tree above the falls. The upper half of the cliff on the left side seems a bit off to me. It's almost like there is mist/smoke there, but I don't see this anywhere else in the image. Overall I really enjoyed this one.
