Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand

An alternative to my "Valley of Fire" images, this was shot at sunset the night before. Unlike the sunrise shots, this shows clearly the peak of Mt Cook/Aoraki (3754 metres/12316 ft).

Canon 5DMkII, 16-35mm 2.8L, 10 second single exposure at f13

Nice! The clouds are great around the peak. I usually don't like water with too long of an exposure, but the color in this water makes it looks silky...I like it.

KahKit, I love the clouds in this, how do you do it? Special order??
The image holds my interest from foreground right through to the mountain and clouds.
Nice variation of colour in the centre of the image.

Just brilliant my friend, brilliant.

Now that is a stunning mountain. I love its hanging glaciers and the way they mach the color of the silty stream. The sky is super cool. What an amazing landscape.

Hi Kah

I love these V shapes valleys, incredible depth and warm/cold tones! Did you shoot less time to get more running water textures?

Great clouds and leading line to the peak. Water may be a little too silky for my personal taste, but that's just me.

This is a wonderful shot that really puts the viewer in the scene. Love the view of the peak in the distance.

Excellent dynamic comp and I usually don't like cloud motion, but really like it here. I personally prefer a slower shutter on the water for texture, but that's just me.

I like the wonderful detail and subtle colors. Interesting to see other post from the top of Mt. Cook and then see this image, well done.

Flawless comp, Kah. The lower half is a hint on the cyan side and I would prefer a slight move towards red/magenta.

Love everything about this one, Kah. The glacier fed river is beautiful with the long shutter speed.....

The cloud action is very special here. The composition and light are gorgeous. Wish I could see a tele shot of Cook and those sick clouds hovering above it.

As a matter of personal preference I'd like a shorter SS for the water but that's about it. Gorgeous composition like all of your shots from here.

Wonderful composition; great clouds/sky and the milky, glacial water really makes this one stand out.

Spectacular scene Kah Kit. The mix of detail of lichen on the rocks and smooth motion of the water adds some interesting contrast. Beautiful light in the sky and on the mountain takes this over the top for me.

The milky blue water goes great with that pink and blue sky. The comp is excellent.

Beautiful work, Kah Kit. Perhaps the fg is a little too light for the mood, but it reveals plenty of detail and the water motion is so soft. Great color... lovely shot!

Strong comp with a great mix of color! I'm a little ambivalent about the sliver of pink cloud in the URC and might prefer a version with more of it or eliminated. It just doesn't quite seem to fit as it is. A minor nit to a well crafted image.
