Running Bear

All these bear pictures has made me nostalgic. We had to cancel our Yellowstone trip this year on account of moving to Ottawa this spring and it'll be two more moths before I'm back in Katmai so I thought I'd post an older photo from my last Alaska trip. This sow was running down salmon near the mouth of the Brooks River this time two years ago. Appreciate the feedback and hope you all enjoy another bear. Thanks for looking!

Love the dripping water from the face and the droplets around the feet - they contrast nicely with the still grasses and water in front of the bear which are about to be disrupted.

Very nice Joe! I like the bear's pose and the habitat with those long grasses blowing in the wind makes this very appealing. Two very, very small 'nits'; firstly the water has an ever so slight magenta cast on my calibrated monitor. Secondly I would try cropping a sliver from the top to eliminate the bright patch in the TRC. :toast:

Like the way the bear is coming through the grass. I do see a little magenta in the water.

Hi Joe,

My favourite part of the image is the focused look on the bear's face. The water droplets around the face (visible to me only on the larger version) add a lot of visual interest to the image (at least to me).

Cheers...

Joe, I am not sure why this has so few coments. I like the comp on this quite a bit and love the action in it. I do see the magenta cast, but that should be easily correctable. Nice work!!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments and helpful hints. I do have a quick question if someone has a moment.....how do I fix that magenta cast? Thanks for the help and advice.

Hi Joe,
I love the action in this photo and the look on the bear's face: top BG is a bit noisy, that could be blurred. The magenta cast is actually a purple cast, I think, so just turn down the saturation of the purple colour a bit. Hope it works!
