Taken early morning sunrise at Jardine's Lookout with backlighting and fill flash. The DF is perched on the side of a steep hill and the background is the distant valley which is still in the shade. This is just the perfect excuse for using the new 300mm which I have developed a fondness for. I like how the warm sunlight has caused the wings to have a golden glow.

D90 300mmF4 iso640 1/60sec F16 tripod cable release with on camera fill flash. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

The glowing wings are fantastic, DOF is just right and bg couldn't be better. The critter is also posing nicely with wings pointed a little upwards. Excellent capture!

The backlighting here is awesome and really helps bring out the fine detail of the wings and hairy body. Nice job.

Nice Gary - I believe this would be even stronger with a fresher DF, the wings are a bit cloudy. But nonetheless - you take what's givin' to you - and you managed the contrasts very well. It's a strong image!!! A bunch of older NPNers (which don't post much here anymore) shoot DFs with 300mm and tubes. I do as well on occassion.
