Holy Cross

Hello,

My wife and I bike packed into the Holy Cross Wilderness (CO) this weekend. We then backpacked along the Missouri Creek trail for Saturday and Sunday night. I tried this composition for sunrise and sunset on each day but did not get a decent sky until sunrise this morning. There had been a pretty sever thunderstorm the previous night which seemed to usher in some nice atmosphere.

This is my first time using LR Enfuse to blend 4 exposures for HDR processing. I am also trying a new sharpening technique. Any comments or suggestions are always appreciated.

Canon 5D Mark II, 17-40 L, 2 Stop Sigh Ray soft step neutral density grad.

Thank you,

I love the shape of the stream in the FG. Clouds and the strip of light on the peaks are great too. Something looks a little off with the processing on the small version, possibly over-sharpening.

What a gorgeous image, Shaun. Looks like a great place to backpack. The greens and silky water are really nice. Details are a little crunchy, maybe a little less web sharpening.

Shaun, nice comp with dramatic light. Do you know why or how the "Holy Cross" name came from? It's pretty interesting if you look it up.

Shaun,

What a beautiful alpine landscape image. Your composition is outstanding.

Sharpening looks great in both sizes. The only nit or processing comment I have is the blue in the sky. It almost has an Ektachrome look to it - or Kodak's version of Velvia. Not quite sure how else to explain it, but let's just say I love the color of the sky, but it's almost too good. If that makes sense.

Otherwise, a beautiful image.

Excellent composition and some really nice light and sky. I like how shiny the water looks. The processing looks very good to me.

Great composotion and scene overall. I especially like the water here and the way it reflects the light. Agree that the small version looks a bit oversharpend.

Looks pretty good to me Shaun, great comp and some nice colors. Wouldn't mind a little more light on the peak, but maybe the clouds were gone by the time you got more light up there.. Nice work.

I think this is extremely nice. I like the composition and the water effects and also it's a very pretty scene. An area I've wanted to visit and now I'm more inspired.

Very nicely done, particularly the composition. I've been tinkering with Enfuse and have been a bit disappointed, but it seems like it has the potential to work well with certain shots.

Really like the shot - the front part is particularly special with the flowers and the flow of the water.
