I revisited the Roxborough area again yesterday to continue working with these great rock formations. Had some nice light for just a few minutes.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Awesome Morris
Good call on revisiting this place. The rock formations rising from such lush surroundings makes this one stand out. I'm enjoying the mono type sky as well
Great capture :toast:

I like this Morris. The thumbnail really caught my eye. I like the shape of the rock and the nice light on it really draws attention. Nice how it pops out of the green grass and trees. Good work.

The composition on this one couldn't have been better, Morris. Everything works great here. You have the nicest light, dramatic clouds and saturated greens. Super cool image!

Sweet light and interesting rock formations. I guess I'm the odd one here as the sky does not hold much drama for me. It is a pretty scene and I do enjoy this view to relax my gaze.

Fabulous work, Morris! This might be one of the best images I've seen from here. The soft lighting really works wonders, and the contrast of rock with the vegetation is really nice. I really like the sky, but I also think you could get away with a major crop from the top and focus more attention on the rock. That's splitting hairs though. This is lovely no matter how you slice it.

Nice as the single rock grabs the attention. Low angle lighting gives the rock some detail to show the layers. Sky is subtle, but the swirling around the lighter area that is just above the peak garners interest.

Morris,

Simple is almost always good and it this case it's wonderful. The warm light on these fascinating rock formations is warm and sweet. This image has only 3 elements - simple; the grass and shrubs provide a solid base, the light and rock are the star and the clouds couldn't be more perfect. For a second, I thought about cropping some of the clouds to bring more emphasis to the rock, but then I'm not sure about interrupting the great patterns in those clouds would be a good thing.

I'm really liking this one.

Morris...I have to say this...this is one of the best images from the place. You said you had some good light for a few minutes. Well it takes skill to pull this off... amazing job Morris... clouds around the rock formation and the beautiful light on the rock really rocks!

great light on this rock - making for a great portrait. the vignetting makes the central part of the sky appear a little bright and bland IMO.

I just love this shot! The color of the rock and grass/bushes is so perfect together. The sky tops off the image - very good use of a monochromatic sky with the hints of a sort of "circle" or eye in the sky that draws the eye right above the tip of the rock really makes this image I think. Not sure if the "eye" was there or a consequence of photoshop, but either way it works. Really great job here.

Thanks so much to everyone for your time and comments.
And Andrew, I did not use photoshop to create the "eye" in this shot. In fact it was the swirling clouds and light on the rock that drew me to capture this. I had to move a ways to my left as I noticed where the light was bright and the clouds forming this swirl. I really don't have the photoshop skills to create anything that isn't there, so I pretty much stick with what I can find.

This is awesome!! Sweet light, allows for gorgeous color, and sky details. The fine grainy detail on the rock formation is eveident even at the small web size. Really good!
