Terrace Mound, Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone NP. Terrace Mound must have at least a million different photo ops all by itself! And certainly a lot of ways to look at the same subject. This happens to be one of my favorites from my visit in May. But let's not have that fact spare the critique. Fire away!
D700, 70-200 @ 140 mm, on tripod, circ.pol.; f 22, 1/50, ISO 640 (with the polarizer and it was a dark day threatening snow, which it later did!), +0.67 EV for the great luck of catching a momentary and slim parting of the clouds.
Thanks for your comments. They've really been helping me lately to fine tune the images.

My only (tiny) suggestion would be to see what happens if you darken/increased the contrast of the lighter areas (1/2 stop at most) to bring out a bit more texture in these areas---hopefully without loosing any of the stunning contrast between the trees and the bg.
But the image stands very well as processed.

I love the snags. Excellent picture.
And thank you all for sharing your thoughts with me.
Easy to understand why we see a fair number of images from these springs in Yellowstone, but I must say this is one of the best I've seen. Great balance between the detail and struggle of the snag versus the harsh elements of the sulfur springs. I think you could perhaps introduce a bit more contrast in the shelves, but overall this is just a great capture from here. Well done.
