Honestly you people have become intimidating. I can't find anything worthy enough to post among all of this talent. I'm going to have to up my game or just become a lurker here. Sorry for the pitiful offering here, but it's the best I've been able to do recently.
Comments and critiques are always welcome, and thank you for looking,

Morris

Nicely done. Morris. I like how the yellow stands out and the way the grasses accent the flower. Not too pitiful IMHO.

Morris,

I feel the same way when I post here, in fact I feel the same pretty much posting to any of the galleries. I figure though that as the skill level in the gallery improves, mine will too if I keep at it - maybe only marginally but some.

I like this image, particularly the spotlight effect and the bright intense yellow against the black bg. I also like the composition including the blade of grass. Well seen, captured and presented.

I like this a lot Morris. I like how the salsify (never knew the name until today - thanks!) seems to be coming out of the darkness. Nice interest added by the grass too. You know, we all get better by posting and reviewing, so I am glad that you post - we all benefit!

Nice name for Goatsbeard (which itself is a nice name) . No need to be intimidated, Morris. Your photos are equally good :toast: . Love this one a lot. Putting two points of interest in a frame in one big challenge but you have carried it out gracefully here. The Grass adds another compositional element without being intrusive. And Boy, the light on that Goatsbeard is really well handled.

Very nice shot, Gary! Good composition and grat light.
I do feel the same way when posting my photos, but it is good to receive comments from skilled people to understand other points of view and to improve!

Beautiful color, light and comp, and I'm glad you left the grass in, it really does add alot. Hummm, I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels like that, every time I post, I get a little queasy. Beautifully done Morris.

I don't understand why are you lamenting Morris. Just you have posted a beautiful photo. The lighting and details are excellent, the overal composition very good. Anthe contrast yellow to dark BG is fabulous. I like it very much. :toast: :toast:

Morris: Hey I think this is very worthy. I especially like the lighting and your DOF choice. If I was going to do anything with this I think I would clone away the stem going up into the URC but I like the comp as is. Don't be a stranger! >=))>

I like the inclusion of the grass... it adds interest, color and texture. You have a winner here!!! Can't wait until the puff balls emerge.

As said above, your images are top notch and we all, as least I do, have down times and get very frustrated trying to come up with something new and original. Usually post a few clunkers before getting back on the band wagon. And I thought I was alone in doubting myself.

Oh, that grass in this light is the perfect "garnish" for this. And the the light on the flower with the dark background is shows off both the shape and the textures of the petals surprisingly well. Well done!

Morris:
It is interesting to read that 'veterans' in this gallery feel intimidated to post; I thought this only applies to newbies like myself. Many a times I just stared at the images posted here in disbelieved and say to myself "How did they make such beautiful images?" It is really inspirational to view them and also I have benefited so much from critiques on my images.

The image you have here is first rate. Good composition and exceptional handling of the light on the flower. :toast:

Interesting composition and capture Morris. The main subject comes at you from the right, leaning to the left. The grass crosses to the right. Conflict and tension. Nicely presented. Thank you for not lurking but sharing. I can see cropping a bit on the left and bottom. Maybe a tad bit off the top too. But that is just my HO. :toast:

I totally agree with your comments about all the great posts Morris. I haven't been able to browse here much lately and I was shocked to log on and see all the wonderful photographs and high comment numbers.
Your photo here fits right in with the rest of them. I like the darkness that seems to wrap around the botttom and left side of the photograph. The diagonal stem in the BG is a nice effect and adds greatly to your subject. I photograhed this same type of flower last summer and though the flower was nice and sharp it seemed too bland. Your addition the the BG was just the right touch. Well done. If the wind ever stops here I just might be able to head out and photograph some of the wonderful wildflowers that are poping up.
