Tim,

Fascinating fungus and growth; wouldn't say it's pretty... but a very well documented specimen. Actually, I don't mean the image isn't pretty, just the fungus. I like the warm and modest color throughout and there is some additional fine detail in the trunk and bark. My only wish would be to create a little bit more blur in the background. I know you chose a somewhat small aperture for at least some depth to get both fungi and good sharp detail in the trunk, but that also kept the background with more detail. Not a big deal though, but I can see some selective blurring on the right/background.

Is this sharpened for web or for print? It seems to be a bit "sharp" on my monitor...

Seems a bunch of macro opportunity there. I'm with Lon, the background is in the middle, I would prefer more or less focus. I kinda feel the right side of the trunk doesn't hold enough interest to warrant so much real estate.

Thanks guys. I felt that I'd been in a macro rut and decided to try something differant. Guess this one didn't make the cut. :frown:
