Beautiful. Pose is perfect with the youngster sheltering under the parents feathers and a nice head turn of the parent showing that red eye. Lovely detail and the bird is sharp throughout. Top image. Graham

Strikingly beautiful and wonderfully composed. I have bgun to spend a great deal of time shooting from my kayak and I love the intimacy it provides. I'm sure you had a similar experience. Great work!

Very cute indeed, the heads going in opposite directions is what I like most about this one Kwan.

Superb shot there KC! Doesn't get much better. They're out early this year if this is in Lac La Jeaune, I presume. I was planning to go next week....I guess I'm too late.

Great moment, perfect DOF and angle, KC. The opposite head-turns of the chick and parent and the water droplets on the parent loon's head make this a super image. Great inquisitive expression on the chick - looks like its enjoying its ride. Very well composed and presented.
One minor nit I see is the white spots on the top of the parent loon's back seem overexposed (or close to it). Maybe, its my just monitor.
Thanks for sharing this.

great intimate moment, and a good subject for subdued lighting. it's a little tight on top (and perhaps right) for me.

I really like the sharpness on the head of the mother Loon, wonderful timing in getting the head turns, well done.

Very cool, KC! The opposing head turns, low angle, soft light and excellent techs all add up to a great image.

Hi KC,
Nothing like catching a ride on mother's/father's back. I especially like how they are looking in opposite directions. Cloudy conditions was in your favor. Good job of controlling those black feathers.

Seems to be worth it..love the low angle, the gentle ripples in the water, the turned heads in opposite directions and the subjects, adult and chick.

Great shot - they appear to be a bit more grey out west than the solid blacks down in Ontario. Great head angles! Congrats
