Wild alpine

Hello everybody!

This is from the same trip as the last post. We hiked to this small glacial lake through dense fog that lifted from time to time allowing views like this one. It was more of a scouting hike as the plan was to return for sunrise. Unfortunately for me, the snow on the right shore proved to be more unstable than I predicted and I fell through with my left leg, hitting a rock with the knee cap on the way down. What can I do, I really wanted to get to that spot. The plans for the next days and the following weeks suddenly ended. I got home on my legs, but I'll have to take a break for at least 2 more weeks.
For anyone interested, here's the horizontal version. Thanks for looking.

PS: Looks at bit like the Patagonian landscape, isn't it?

Dorin,
Great image! I think I might like the horizontal version even better though. The blue/gray color palate is really neat. I'm glad to hear you are ok, although it is disappointing I won't see any shots of this lake at sunrise! Hope the knee heals quick!

Dorin,

I really like the horizontal version - it just feels more natural for the layout of the landscape, water and reflection. I'm with Cam also on the color and tonality, very nice. Vertical is excellent too, but I think it feels squeezed on the sides. And even though I like the symmetry and spacing given to the very top and very bottom, I would consider cropping either top or bottom a little just to throw the balance and emphasis to either to the mountain and cloud/fog OR to the reflection and submerged rocks at the bottom.

Looks like a wonderful spot and hope your knee is ok.

great mood, mate! I don´t normally like the blue monotone but I like it a lot here. nice refelctions too. I feel it´s a tad sharp, imho, but that´s a minor issue. nice comp and capture....!

hope you´re knee is better...

Thanks, guys. I knew I had to post the horizontal version. Lon, I'll play with it to see what comes up. Bruno, you might be right, my monitor isn't the sharpest.

Beautiful image Dorin, I am glad to hear you were able to make it out! Another vote for the horizontal image, though I'd love to count either one as mine. :toast:

I have to go with the vertical, but with a slight crop. I really like the tones here. Hope your knee gets better soon. Walking in spring snow can be difficult. As least you were able to make it out.

The horizontal works better for me - reminds me to shoot more horizontal images myself. Processing looks great in both of them.

Both are fine images Dorin. Your processing and comp style are spot on. Lovely mood from an interesting wilderness. The horz. definitely works better but the vertical has a certain edge to it.
Thanks for sharing and well done
