I thought about titling it Man Holding Nature

I know it's not for everyone but I've been focusing a lot of my outdoor shooting lately on the sport of fly fishing. I'm pretty fanatical about fly fishing and if someone made me choose between it and photography I'd be hard pressed to make a decision. It's funny, until the last couple of years I never really mixed the two, perhaps I wanted no distraction when focused on one over the other.

My time for each has been somewhat limited the past 5 years due to professional obligations and a growing family so I think I've been going with the make hay when the sun shines mentality when I do get an chance to hit the river. The sport is so beautiful on many levels that now I'm finding it hard to pick up the rod over the camera. Oh well hope you enjoy a bit of Adirondack wild brown.

I share your passion for fly fishing, and this image really speaks to me. Magazine, stock, or hang on a wall...this is an awesome, powerful and marketable image!!! :toast:

Nice job, I like the low angle and eye contact. Darkening the top just a little might make the trout pop. I haven't done much fishing since taking up photography a few years ago....

Beautiful brown. I used to fly fish a lot, until I got serious about photography. I can't seem to do both, so photography won. Maybe some day when I retire I can dust off the fly rod and get back to it.

Ditto on the fly fishing, Kurt. Beautiful image, point of view and selective focus work well here, well done :toast:

Kurt,

I too share the passion of fly-fishing and photography.

Good catch.. either way you look at it.

I love this viewpoint of the brown.

I like the DOF and composition but 've got to say the over-exposed parts are a little distracting. I found some of the other shots in your blog to be even better.

A very unique perspective for sure. Nice detail in the foreground and the fish's eye.
