Otago Peninsula, New Zealand

Just to give a sense of scale to this amazing beach we visited, here's Winnie photographing from a rock. See my seascape shot in ESS here

The vertical comp and Winnie for reference certainly conveys the sense of scale. Lovely starlit sky. Outstanding.

Beautiful set of elements and the perspective really establishes a sense of scale. Nicely done.

Wow, so those rocks really were THAT big! What an amazing place to discover. I love your image on ESS from here. Very striking!

Alot of noise in this image, but what a unique portrait. I like it!

Hi KK, cool image! It looks very noisy though for ISO800; my guess is you underexposed? I have been doing quite a few of these star images lately and I always had to pump up the ISO to 1600 or 3200 (even at f/2.8) to get proper exposure. Did you underexpose deliberately?

I am really liking this perspective from down low looking straight up. The addition of the stars really give it a out of world feeling to it.

Thanks for the comments. This was very much a grab shot so I didn't think too much about the exposure. I just wanted to get the shot done while Winnie was motionless and I was planning for the composition which you see in ESS. There was a compromise too of getting more DOF by using f4 rather than 2.8 which would have been less noisy.
