Beautiful bird in beautiful light. Excellent detail and composition. Looks a little dark on my monitor, but nothing to worry about. Well done. :toast:

A wonderful look at this unusual appearing chick Dave. The light is wonderful, detail and sharpness excellent. I like the sand on the beak, your comp and the low angle. A top notch image and you even got a catch light - not easy to do with chicks in my experience. I wouldn't have guessed that this is as large a crop as it is. There's a small dark spot about an inch above the head of the bird that I might consider dealing with - could it be a very tiny insect? Very well done!

David,

I've seen this light so many times, I always feel the magical quality of it and adore seeing it in images like this one. I like that you didn't try to alter the light you had and instead worked with it. I feel like I am there with you. Great pose, angle and setting. A very appealing image as posted.

Hi David,
Good job of getting this little one in a nice setting. The sharpness held up well even in the large image. I know this was taken at the crack of dawn but I find the overall tint of red is a little strong. I also feel a touch of brightness or contrast would be beneficial.
Thanks for posting,
Ronnie G.

WOW David. I've never seen a photo of a black skimmer chic this well done. The early morning light, just the right amount of DOF, catch light, slight head turn, feather detail, background and foreground, sharpness, and the side lit rocks in the sand all lead to a really nice capture. I can't believe you got this from a car window. It looks as if you were laying on the ground what with the blurred foreground and background. Typical Kid.....he looks like he just came out of the bath tub but forgot to clean his face or dry off. This is magical to me David. :toast:

Hey David,,,,,,the detail held up well in this crop and the early morning, low angled light is sweet. Looks like these guys are born with a big schnozzola! On my end it looks like a little flat, but that may just be a difference in monitors.
