Morning Rays in Cades Co

This is my first post and the first photo resize. I'm not confident that I did it correctly so if the pixelation is off, I will have to attempt it again. Trust me, the picture is clear on my Mac.

Took this shot after sunrise on a recent trip to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.

I like this. Beautiful light and light rays. Glad I got to see it before it gets moved.

Hi Eric and welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery. Yeah, there is the Man & Nature Gallery. Here in the ES&S Gallery it's suppose to be without any evidence or the "hand of man." We're pretty flexible with many elements of man, but usually if they are insignificant in the frame or something small just doesn't get noticed by anyone. But clearly the road is a major element and so I will go ahead and move this after posting my comments.

This image is wonderful! I would almost go as far as saying "glorious" with those beautiful rays of light. Terrific b&w rendition too. I'd say the resizing is just fine although perhaps a tad over sharpened? Always a tough call with these web versions. But overall, this looks wonderful.

Welcome aboard and if you have any questions about the image getting moved or anything in general, don't hesitate to drop one of us a note.

Lon

Thank you Lon. I greatly appreciate all of your kind comments. As you've probably noticed, I have moved the photo already. After I read Tony's comment, I remembered from my prior stint on NPN 5 years ago about the manmade features. Thanks again and I look forward to becoming a contributing member of the site.

This is beautiful Eric. There aren't many B&W images that I like, but I'm loving this one!

Beautiful scene. I really like the light, which gives the image a very surreal look.

This is very nice. I really like those sun rays coming through the trees. A very pleasing composition also. Well done!

Looks very nice, good first post. Was this a B&W conversion from color? Tech info is helpful.

Excellent first photo - You can feel the mist hanging in the air and the lines of the fences and road bring the eye right to the sunstreaks

Great shot! Very moody and wonderful comp. The b&w treatment is dramatic, but I can't help wonder what the color version looks like (more curious than anything). I love these early morning scenes. :toast:
