Bill,
I like the idea, but for me too many little bright gaps breaking up the sense of a pattern. Specifically, I can't figure the brightest, truncated vertical near the center. I think you could even do better with a 1/2 crop of just the left, excluding that bright half vertical piece. The trunks, light and even inclusion of some leaves make the left half bit more interesting than the other half. Even with that crop you still have a substantial pano format left over and it might be better seen at these small we sizes.

I find this photograph very appealing. The wide view almost forces one to focus on the shape of the trunks, the tonal variation between them and the interplay of light and shadow. An enjoyable viewing experience.

i regret not being able to view a very large version of this; we are so constrained by the dimensions, particularly with panos. from what I can see, it appears interesting but the odd bright line in the middle arrests my eye and leaves me a little confused!

Thanks for the responses folks, I'm happy to receive them! Well, I do like the wide view of the many shapes and angles of the trunks, and the light allowing just a glimpse of the trees in behind the front stand. The sun was about a 9 out of 10 on this morning, but the trees were in the shadows.
It appears that bright vertical in the posted image, as best I can tell from the original, is a post or marker the property owner may have put up, with a beam of light screaming thru to light it up. Hmmm... will have to go back there and see for myself again.
Lon, I do like the length of this as posted for some of the reasons above (varied tree shapes/angles of growth) and as it is simply a single image made quite elongated. But I certainly see your point about the bright spot and the limitations on the web.
So here is just one attempt at a crop. Thank you all again!!
