Robert, I see a lot of potential here but the image is just simply too soft. I can't make out many details here and that is probably part focus problem and part a sharpening for web problem. All images must go through additional sharpening to appear nicely online, just an unfortunate fact of resolution reduction, but in this case it may be both. I'd try viewing this at close to 100% of maximum resolution to see if it's sharp. Perhaps the issue may have been lack or a tripod or missed focus point. I do like the composition and some of the soft lighting here quite a bit.

Thanks Marc! I appreciate your input. I have to blame the softness on the re-sizing. I use a nice and sturdy Manfrotto tripod and I also have a beautiful 13X19 print of this image.
Again Marc, thanks for taking the time to look and comment. :toast:

The larger image looks left soft, where the beautiful details are much easier to appreciate. A lovely scene and well composed.

Robert,

The larger version works so much better. I feel the sharpness and details are much better presented. There is a lot to look at here, but the spot-lighted cascade in the lower R third provide a nice focal point. I also think you handled the exposure range pretty well considering the large range of light to shadows.

Have you seen my sharpening method for web? It might be of some use here if you don't have something else to try. I agree the large version is an improvement.

A nice place for sure and you succeeded in showing us the potential here. The harsh light was tricky but the shadow still works well on the foreground. Lika Marc said, you can still cover some ground technically. Shots like that can't have enough details with all the leaves, little highlights and water streams. Revisit your workflow maybe and make the best of what you bring back from out there.

I tend to agree with Marc. The scene is beautiful and your composition is excellent but it could use a little more work in processing to balance out the highlights and shadows and bring out the detail.

I agree with the others, there is a ton of potential here but the presentation needs a bit of massaging, not just the sharpness but to me the scene looks distorted  That may be the WA lens. A great scene with some real nice light.

I'd say give it another try on a cloudy day. There's a lot of color and nuance being lost to high contrast here.

Feel like I'm there in the dappled sunlit forest with my feet in the cooling water. The smaller version is definitely softer than the large. Nice composition and for me it is story telling image. Well done.
