Baby Rattle

Guess I am on a rattler role along with, Sam! Found this baby Diamond Back in the front yard while working on a drip system for some trees.
Shot was taken using an old Tamron 28-80 macro with 1” extension ring, mounted (with the help of an adapter) to a Sony A700. Unfortunately the DOF of this setup is not that great. For safety the shot was taken through a hole, in a peace of card board mounted to an old filter holder attached to the lens.
1/10 sec at f/11, iso 200, hand held.

Comments & critiques are always welcome, thanks for looking!

I'm glad you took all those precautions! Maybe, a little more room to the right?

Interesting color variation on this Diamond Back, looks a little darker in color from the ones we have around Tucson, nice job for 1/10 sec hand held.

Good job with the hand holding; the eye is right in the focal plane. I agree that slightly more on the right would be nice. I am impressed with your creative precautions!

Nice capture, Michael. Glad to see that I've had an impact, and glad to hear that you are taking some safety precautions for Rattlesnake Macros. Not bad at all for 1/10s hand held.

I wonder what the snake was thinking when you were approaching with your set-up!

That is one relaxed rattler...the focus on the big eye is sharp. Nice image of this potentially dangerous animal.
