Osprey with catch

This Osprey was feasting on a fresh catch near the beach in SW Florida when I spotted it. I got a couple of shots while it was in a tree prior to this. I liked the way the bird looked back toward me as it flew to the next perch.

Also, I liked the view of the talons..........so powerful!

This was taken about 5:30pm yesterday.

Nikon D60, 70-200mm VR, 200 mm, 1/1000, f 4.0

Comments and critiques always appreciated. Thanks.

Karon,

I like the great look you appear to be getting from this Osprey, the prey in the talon and how it is carrying the prey with only one of those talons. The comp I am not as keen on, if you have more room I think this would make a stronger horizontal comp with more space in front of the bird for it to fly into. Perhaps a bit more space all around.

Love the look your getting here Karon, Like the exposure and the detail in the whites and blacks. I agree with Mia that the bird needs more room to the right. Seems tight IMO
Otherwise, great shot. :toast:

Terrific detail and sharpness in the image Karon! My only nit is that I'd like to see more room around the bird.

Hi Karen,
This is a great shot! We live in Punta Gorda 6 month of the year. Where exactly were you?
I will send you a few of my Osprey pics. Teach me how you get a moving target so sharp!

Excellent eye contact, and I like the hanging talons. I agree with the others that there needs to be a bit more room all around. Its too tight! Just add a little canvas, and this should be great!

Nice flight shot and I really like the fish in the talons. Would like to see a little more room around the osprey.

Cool shot. Agree with Mia...could have used a little more space behind, on top, and in front of the bird.
