We have roses budding and beginning to bloom already. So I snipped one and brought it indoors. My first attempt in processing with Viveza 2 and Nik filters wih Steve K's framing action applied.

Kathy, nice color, comp, and lighting. Image appears a tad soft; not a nit, just an observation.

Very nice composition . . . the dew drops are quite appealing as well. Everything about it looks great to me.

A very nice portrait Kathy. I agree with Philip that it seems a touch soft, but I don't know that it hurts the shot.

Thanks, everyone for your commemts. We did play a bit with some selective unsharpening, but mostly on the leaves. Still very much on a learning curve, but I think I'm going to like the Viveza 2 and Nik Color Efex when they arrive. They really add a lot of photographic control to the post processing. New toys! :jump:

Beautiful rose Kathy. I like the softening you applied and the black bg is perfect for the red in the rose.

Very nice portrait Kathy. Nice post processing as well - you must be a very good student of Steven. Well done.

As already mentioned, maybe a tiny bit soft, but I love your composition, with the leaves gently cradling the bloom. Nice lighting as well. Water drops add a nice touch.

Kathy: Excellent capture and processing. This reminds me of one of Larry Lynch's roses. I hope you will take that as a high compliment. >=))> :toast: :toast:

For the record kathy, you did the hard part - the capture. We didn't really do that much to the post processing. Uhh I should say you didn't really do that much as you worked the filters yourself. I just provided support and guidance. So whatever accolades you garner, they are yours. :toast:
