In the Heart of Darkness

Thought Id cool things down a bit. Forgot about this one as I was filing through some processed images. Taken about a week after Fire & Ice and I thought the softer side of this one was a little different. Image was taken in almost complete darkness only illuminated by a small torch. Heavier light caused a softer glow but still revealed the textures of the frozen water.

Thanks again for your time and comments

Canon 40D
Ill have to check on the specks

Beautiful and graceful lines Anthony. Very nice light and pastel colors, accentuated by the Heart of Darkness. Great image and love the title too.

Seriously cool, Anthony. I love the feathered like structures in the ice. I'm not sure sure about the bit of darkness at the bottom, and the line in the LLC.. a little crop would solve both those things. Man.. makes me excited for winter already, too bad we have the whole summer thing to get through first!

Thanks Eva, Matt , Bill
I see what your saying Floris. It is an area that doesn't hold much interest but I didn't want to lose some light on the right. Ill give it a shot though.

Ya summer is a tough season photographically for me. Bring on fall (after spring of course)

Amazing, so interesting to look at. Beautiful color and I like the comp. I can see croping out the dark area at the bottom, but don't think I would want to give up the rest of that part of the image. I like how that lower line curves back down to the bottom of the frame and the light that goes with it. Like it!!

Anthony,

Who can forget "Fire & Ice." It will be hard to ever top that one. But this one is fabulous as well. The colors and the patterns in the ice are wonderful.

If I had a wish though, I wish there wasn't the hole in the ice. Or at least the light (torch?) and details were more obscured, blurred or darkened or something. Still, a fascinating and well crafted image. Great idea you had with this and it's produced some great imagery.

Hey Anthony,
Tough to compare the 2....the other was very strong but this one hold its own for the softness of colors and the beautiful lines! I think the black BG may emphasize the bottom black a bit more than a white BG would....so not a big deal for me. Another great one!

Beautiful abstract. It is full of fascinating light, shapes and has a real sense of mystery about what is down in the hole in the ice. Very cool.

Love the pastel colors Anthony. Beautiful all the way around. Hope you don't mind, I used your title, Fire and Ice for my image this week.

Hmm, now I'm wondering. Which came first--Fire and Ice or Floris' Apoptosis? They're certainly similar techniques with strikingly different results. Everything is well-handled here for sure, but F&I still sizzles in my mind. It's hard to top a signature image.

This looks very amazing Anthony! The idea to illuminate the ice by fire is great and works again very well here. Appealing color combination as well.

Really love the swirling patterns in the ice Anthony, I almost wish the bright area wasn't in this image so the lines could stand out. Still very nice as presented.

Wonderful abstract Anthony - I especially like the little details in the ice - looks like tile almost. Great lines and shapes. A real winner.

Fire and Ice is awesome and a lot more graphic type of visual impact than this. I like this one very much as well for it's elegance. Beautiful soft light, and grat lines/ patterns. My only wish is that the ice was solid across the entire frame. Beautiful!

Love the lines and various geometric shapes in this. I think I would be tempted to crop slightly from the bottom to remove that one dark along the border. Nice work!

Really amazing shot - the unique qualities of each curve and turn - looks like a messed up racetrack that someone tried to do after too many shots of Bourbon. :jump:

This is a great abstract picture. The lines on the ice and the light reflection are all so much intrigued to me, very impressive.
