Beautiful (albeit gruesome) abstract. Can you give us some more info on this shot?

Sure Luke,
We came across a kill site shortly after the deed was done. Didn't witness the act. You can only take so many shots of a lion with a face full of zebra, so you start looking for other ways to tell the story. The only two ways to change perspective is to change position or change lenses. We did both here. This was shot with a canon 400 2.8 w/ 2.0 ex on a Canon D30 when I was shooting jpgs in sRGB. We repositioned to be just out of close focus. 1/500th @ 5.6 which is wide open on this set-up. effective dof = 2.8.
Thanks for looking.

Very unique shot and a different way to tell the story, as you say. Also appropriate for the challenge category, at least from the lion's point of view!

This photo brings one's mind to the facts of life. I very much like the symbolism of the closeup.

Neil, I really appreciate that you were able to tell the story with this image without showing the obvious gore. Very powerful image. Well done.
