Stream Reflections

This was taken during my recent Smokies workshop with Richard Bernabe. He taught us how to find a place in the stream where the gold is reflections off sun shining off trees and the blue is where the water is sloping so the blue of the sky is reflected. Nice effect? Comment and suggestions are welcome.

I like it for the impressionism. It is a nice effect; in my mind it needs an anchor of some kind, but that's me.

Beautiful color in the water. I am also enjoying this one with a kind of pano crop, just below the top wave. I find it emphasizes the color in the water and makes the comp a little more dynamic for me. Enjoyable abstract.

I really like these types of images and you got a nice one here. I think I would be tempted to bump up the contrast a bit to give it some pop.

Lovely colors Walt, and the shutter speed you chose captured both the flow as well as the action - nice choice. I think the image would benefit from a bit more contrast, and perhaps a crop off the top to simplify the scene.

Walt,

Great job isolating the standing waves and reflected colors. Although I think it's easy to figure out what this is, it's still a nicely captured abstract of nature.

I would agree with the suggestions so far that center around some contrast and perhaps even to experiment with a crop - although the comp is very good as presented. Additionally, perhaps instead of contrast, I think there is room in this image for boosting the saturation. Not to the point of gaudy or unbelievable, but just for a touch of punch. Of course that's always a matter of personal taste and choice.

A very nice effect. Love the texture. Definitely try a contrast bump - at first glance it seems somewhat flat.
