Groove-billed Ani

This unusual fellow was drying himself after taking a splash in a mangrove swamp which was behind this perch. The comp maybe somewhat busy, but I've found it extremely difficult to find a clear shot with most subjects in the jungle-the vegetation has worked against me time and again, so perhaps this could pass as a habitat post.

C & C's appreciated and thanks for looking.

Open enough for me, Charles. Nice job on the exposure of this backlit dark bird. :toast:

The pose of the bird and nice exposure carries this, well done Chuck. :toast:

Love the pose and the backlighting Chuck. I would be tempted to tone down the V-shape behind the bird but otherwise I think the background is a wonderful setting

cheers

Chuck:
I would love to see and photograph a Groove-billed Ani! I like the drying posture, nice head turn, and eye contact. Excellent exposure to get such nice detail in the black regions.

I quite like this as presented Chuck. Great pose with head turn and your exposure looks good which probably wasn't easy. Ideally the background OOF forked branch wouldn't be directly behind the bird's head but that's certainly not a big deal with this natural setting. Well done.

Charles,

I think you did well with getting this species this much out in the open, I had trouble getting this clean of a shot with the Anis I have seen. Nice work on a challenging exposure too.
