Yellow in Spring Maple

This guy demanded my attention as I hiked around a pond last monday. The fading light proved perfect as the sun dipped behind a ridge. I see them all time but not singing on such a beautiful perch! Large version provided for detail. All C&C welcome.

Nice photo, I like the alert pose of the warbler, the OOF branch does distract some. Thanks for sharing.

Classic Yellow Warbler photo - it looks like the POF was just a little below the head on the wing, but still a wonderful habitat photo

Very Sweet Kirk. The larger version really shows off the detail captured and the facial expression on this crooner. Well Done!

John, I too wish the branch just above his head weren't there but I'm not a big fan of removing such a large element from the image. Luke is correct, the focal point was the wing. Stopping down to increase DOF would have surely brought motion blur into play. Always a give & a take.

Hello Kirk. I sure do dislike how some plant will grow a branch right over the top of a bird that we are trying to photograph! I still like it, and I like how the reds of the plant compliment the reds in this guys chest. Very nice touch!

Beautiful, Kirk. There's something about the pose and the open beak that make this little guy look incredibly cheerful. :toast:

Great pose and lighting Kirk, nit noted about the head not being as crisp as the body. :toast:

Minor nits already noted, but this is a great image. Like most warblers, they are tough subjects, because they don't sit still long. But you captured a very natural relaxed pose. :toast:

The nits have already been mentioned so that leaves me to say only that it is a photo that makes me happy.
