Great action shot of a spoonbill, rather an unusual pose. Good color and sharp detail. Some of the small branches do distract a bit, but not much you can do about those.
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome action and colors - it looks a bit oversharpened though - on the wings particularly. That or you were too heavy on the noise reduction - I can't tell.

What a fine capture David. Perfect timing on the shot for my tastes - love the position and posture of the bird. Excellent detail as well. Sharpness and noise look fine to me.

This is really neat Dave. I love seeing this dynamic flight posture, esp just a split second before touch-down. The light and colors of the bird really set it off against that darker background. Good sharpness and I like the natural setting also. Very nicely done.

Thanks for the comments. After Luke's comment I reviewed the post-processing and I did have a parameter set incorrectly when using Noise Ninja on this image. I can redo that step and improve the image a little, but it will not make enough difference in a 720 pixel image to warrant a repost. I had the parameter that controls the amount of noise reduction too high and I actually lost some "sharpness" in the motion-induced blur in the wing ( if blur can have sharpness  ).

OK David, another winner here! I love the larger version that reveals the minute coloration and detail as well as the fronzen action. The wings, head/neck, feet all perfect.... Very nice job!

Good timing capturing the action right before landing. The wing position & eye sharpness make this image for me. A few of the FG twigs are a minor distraction but nothing I'd worry too much about.

Hello. I didn't notice any effects of oversharpening, on my screen. This is very different, and I like it. The poor bugger sure looks like it is taking a lot of effort to touch down! I know some Blackhawk pilots that have the same problem!

Great landing shot, David. Something about the open beak adds a nice finishing touch to this. :toast:

Great pose, open bill, colors and background. I especially love the "umbrella" the wings form, or perhaps because they are pink, the "parasol".

unusual and great pose!
Iexcellent colors, pose and BG.
It would not be too tough, I don't think, to clone out the errant branches in front of the legs and beak. would bewell worth it, if you wished to.
Sharpness and detail look fine to me also.

Hi David,

Hot dang, errr hot pink, anyway this is really eye catching. That pose is something.

FYI if you did want to lose the twigs the new CS5 version of photoshop with "content aware" makes it really easy, about a 5 minute job.

Either way this is really cool! :toast:

Great job on this in flight shot and handling a tough range of color contrasts on this bird, the larger image was a pleasure to view, well done.
